What is The List?

The List! Some of you are probably asking: what is The List? Or more importantly: what is The List a list of? Well, my dear readers, it is a list of books the English professors of Wittenberg University think you must read before your college career is over. They believe this so strongly that they are willing to argue with us students. In the past (and hopefully the future) the English department has held The List Colloquium, where professors defend one of their book choices. At said events, students and professors got to passionately discuss literature.

Like many things, The List fell victim to COVID and was neglected. But now, The List is newly renovated and ready for its debut. The List is 41 eclectic books ranging from classics to modern published stories. As well as getting to read the amazing books your professors recommended, you will win prizes as you complete The List. The more you read, the bigger and better the prizes get!! The prizes are still being figured out, but some confirmed prizes are:

5 books completed: the English department mug

List completed: add your very own book recommendation to The List

You might now be asking: how do I complete The List? After you read a book on The List, you will track down the professor that recommended it (or a listed alternate professor). You will meet with them and discuss what you enjoyed about the book. After having a discussion with them, they will sign a paper confirming the discussion has happened. Then, you move onto the next book you want to read on The List. Go to http://bit.ly/WittList for all things The List!

The English department wishes you good luck!!
